R.E.A.L Girlz Mentor and Leadership Academy Application Will Open in August 2024!

Who are we?

R.E.A.L Girlz is a community-based organization providing safe spaces for girls to foster healthy relationships, develop leadership skills, and believe in their greatness.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where girls can embrace their individuality, build meaningful relationships, and cultivate essential life skills through opportunities and resources.

Through a variety of programs and services, including mentorship programs, leadership development, and our SumHer Experience, we strive to equip girls with the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to navigate life's challenges and pursue their dreams.

OUR HISTORY

R.E.A.L Girlz was founded in 2019 providing the first program to juveniles at The James River Detention Center. Due to her previous community involvement as an AmeriCorps member and Youth Program Director, our founder Tammie Mobley, was able to implement the program into Chesterfield, Henrico and Richmond Public Schools. However, in March 2020, the pandemic closed all schools.

Through a partnership with Nextup RVA and Virginia Department of Health. R.E.A.L Girlz began virtual programming by delivering activity packages across the city to keep students engaged while spending long days at home.

R.E.A.L Girlz known as the "hype girls' program" is now offered in three school districts in Virginia, reaching over 200 girlz yearly.

Jeanine Turner- Director of Programs- Nextup RVA

I want you to know that she attends all of the programs offered on our schedule, she told me a couple of weeks ago that REAL Girlz is her most favorite program. So KUDOS to you!!! I wouldn't have expected anything less! I asked her what she loved about the program and she said "Ms. Tammie is really nice and I like that she let's us play games like jeopardy"

Tammie, It was an absolute pleasure to work with you again during girls circle. Your group brought incredible joy to my week each Friday. Your ability to discuss important issues with our girls was simply amazing. I know our discussions will be a catalyst for positive change in our community...these girls will rule the world one day!
